Word count typically excludes abstract, references, tables/figures, and supplementary files (unless stated otherwise). The editorial team may allow justified exceptions.
Original Article
- Main text: 3,500–4,500 words
- Abstract: Structured, up to 250 words
- References: up to 50
- Tables/Figures: combined total up to 8
Review Article
Systematic Review / Meta-analysis
- Main text: 4,500–6,000 words
- Abstract: Structured, up to 300 words
- References: up to 100
- Tables/Figures: up to 10 (PRISMA flow diagram expected)
Scoping / Narrative Review
- Main text: 4,000–5,500 words
- Abstract: Unstructured or structured, up to 250–300 words
- References: up to 80
- Tables/Figures: up to 8
Case Report
- Main text: 1,500–2,200 words
- Abstract: Unstructured, up to 150 words
- References: up to 25
- Tables/Figures: up to 5
Case Series
- Main text: 2,500–3,500 words
- Abstract: Structured, up to 250 words
- References: up to 35
- Tables/Figures: up to 8
