Ethical Requirements

Human research

  • Must comply with the Declaration of Helsinki and applicable local regulations.
  • Provide IRB/ethics committee approval (name of committee + approval number/date) or a clear justification for exemption.
  • Confirm informed consent when applicable.

Clinical trials

  • Trials must be registered in a public trial registry (ClinicalTrials.gov) before participant enrollment, where applicable. Include the registration number.

Systematic reviews

  • Protocol registration (PROSPERO) is strongly recommended. Provide registration ID if available.

Case reports/case series

  • Written patient consent is mandatory for publication (including images). State this explicitly in the manuscript.

Animal research (if applicable)

  • Must comply with institutional/national standards and include ethics approval. Use recognized reporting guidance (ARRIVE where relevant).

Conflicts of interest

  • All authors must declare financial and non-financial conflicts. If none: “The authors declare no conflicts of interest.”

Funding

  • State all funding sources and grant numbers, or: “This study received no external funding.”

Data availability

  • Provide a statement describing availability of data/materials/code, or justified restrictions (privacy).

Plagiarism and duplicate publication

  • SJCCGM screens submissions for plagiarism and redundant publication. Submissions must be original.

Authorship

  • Authorship should follow ICMJE criteria. All authors must approve the final manuscript.

Use of AI tools

  • If AI tools were used (language editing), disclose how they were used. AI tools cannot be listed as authors.
